Christian Education Opportunities
At Mt. Bethel Presbyterian Church our mission is to foster educational and growth opportunities for all ages in our shared journey of knowing and understanding God’s Word and the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Seekers Class: Zoom meetings for 3 consecutive sessions (next class is Oct. 24, 31 and Nov.7th) at 9:00am via zoom. For new and prospective members and anyone wanting to learn more about being Presbyterian and Mt. Bethel Presbyterian Church. Led by the Rev. Marguerite Sirrine.
Junior Church: children age 3-4th grade.
During worship these children are invited upstairs to participate in fellowship and study related to the Scripture texts adults are learning in worship. Coordinated by Rebecca Harvard Barnes.
Kids’ Club: children Age 3-5th grade.
Held once per month on Sunday following Worship, Kids’ Club is time to learn more about God, our community, engage in local mission projects and enjoy fun age appropriate activities.
SHINE: ages 4 to Grade 5. On Wednesday nights during the school year we meet to explore music and arts ministry. Children learn Christian songs and Bible stories, then they share what they have learned to the congregation and the community.
Confirmation Class: Grades 7-9
Every other year, typically, we offer an extensive 12 week program where Confirmands are invited to explore their faith. Learn what it means to be a Presbyterian as well as examine several different faith traditions. At the end of the class they are invited to join the church and publicly confess their faith in Jesus Christ.
Bethel Bible Class: adults of all ages.
This study group meets in the comfort of the Library and currently utilizes the Cook Sunday School series for its studies led by Leslie Wickham. This class is on hiatus until further notice. Anyone interested in receiving the Sunday School class curriculum, please contact the church office.
Explorer, Learn and Share Class: adults of all ages.
This class meets on Sundays at 9:45am via Zoom. Through the exploration of biblical text, adult study groups are invited into a deepened relationship with God through The Present Word studies. Paul Laughton and Ken Jones, leaders.
Mt. Bethel Antiracism Class: class meets every other Monday at 7:00pm via Zoom. This class provides an opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of racism, support one another and do antiracism work, within the class and in the community. Courtenay Clifford, leader.
Thursday Theologians: for youth and adults.
Meets Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. for biblical and theological discussion. Leslie Wickham, leader.
Podcast Discussion Group: Weekly discussion of various theologically themed podcasts at 9:00am on Sundays via zoom. Dave Irish, leader.
Nursery: infants through age three.
For all worship services, childcare is provided by a professional care giver, assisted by adult church members. Rochelle Swinson, leader.
Baptism Remembrance: for those children being baptized
On the day of their baptism, each child is given a copy of Water Come Down, signed by church members to remember this special day in their faith. They are also given a children’s Bible to begin reading the stories of Scripture.
Kickoff Sunday: Adults and children
Held on the Sunday following Labor Day Weekend. Kickoff Sunday introduces a yearly theme which will guide the focus of worship, mission and education through out the year. The event offers a creative Worship experience with various stations as well as fellowship and fun activities following worship.
