At Mt. Bethel Presbyterian Church our mission is to foster educational and growth opportunities for all ages in our shared journey of knowing and understanding God’s Word and the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Adult Education – we offer Sunday morning adult-ed classes, a weekly Thursday Theologians class, and a monthly Book Club

Nursery/Birth-Age 5 – we offer nursery during Sunday worship and also at most of all Mt. Bethel events.

Children’s Education – we offer Holy Moly following the Time with Young Disciples during Sunday worship. We offer mid week education opportunities involving puppet ministry and music ministry. We also offer a monthly Kids Club event following worship.

Middle-/High-School Youth Group – on Sunday evenings during the school year, we have Youth Group meetings for middle and high school students, with education, service, and fellowship opportunities. We also plan summer trips for retreats and mission projects.

 

Junior Church: children age 3-1st grade.
During worship these children are invited upstairs to participate in fellowship and study related to the Scripture texts adults are learning in worship. Coordinated by Vicki Chappell.

Holy Moly: Grade 2-5
Ignite a biblical imagination that lasts a lifetime—an innovative Sunday school curriculum with a combination of animated videos, creative activities, and age-appropriate Bibles, Holy Moly brings the Bible to life.

Youth Christian Education: Biblical and faith building lessons are incorporated into weekly Youth Group meetings on Sunday evenings during the school year from 5:00-7:00pm.

Kickoff Sunday: Adults and children
Held on the Sunday following Labor Day Weekend. Kickoff Sunday introduces a yearly theme which will guide the focus of worship, mission and education through out the year. The event offers a creative Worship experience with various stations as well as fellowship and fun activities following worship.
Additional Christian Education Opportunities

Kids’ Club: children Age 3-5th grade.
Held once per month on Sunday following Worship, Kids’ Club is time to learn more about God, engage in local mission projects and enjoy fun age appropriate activities.

Vacation Church School at New Hope Camp: ages 4 to grade 5.
A week of fun in the summer to teach the Christian faith to our children through outdoor activities, crafts, music, games and storytelling. We gather with other churches at New Hope Camp. VCS is held the 3rd week of June.

Puppet Ministry, Hand Chimes and Choir: ages 4 to Grade 4 and Grade 5-12.         On Wednesday nights during the school year we meet in two age appropriate groups to explore both puppet ministry and music ministry. Children learn Christian songs and Bible stories, then they share what they have learned to the congregation and the community.

National Children’s Sabbath: held in the fall of each year
With other denominations and churches, we celebrate National Children’s Sabbath each year, led in worship by our children, focusing on the needs of children all over the world.

Coming to the Table: children 1st -5th grade
A class where young children learn about and study the sacrament of Communion and experience the fellowship of being welcomed at the table.

Confirmation Class: Grades 7-9

Every other year we offer an extensive 12 week program where Confirmands are invited to explore their faith. Learn what it means to be a Presbyterian as well as examine several different faith traditions. At the end of the class they are invited to join the church and publicly confess their faith in Jesus Christ.

 

Bethel Bible Class: adults of all ages.
This study group meets in the comfort of the Library and currently utilizes the Cook Sunday School series for its studies. Carol Gentry, Leslie Wickham, Paul Craven, Jim Harris, Brown Gardner, leaders.
Explorer, Learn and Share Class: adults of all ages.
This class meets in the class off of the fellowship hall. Through the exploration of biblical text, adult study groups are invited into a deepened relationship with God through The Present Word studies. Paul Laughton, Catherine Ryan, and Ken Jones, leaders.
Monday Book Club: adults of all ages.
Meeting once per month, this group meets for conversation to discuss various books, some written by local authors. You are invited to join the conversation even if you have not read the book. Ingram Hedgpeth, leader.
Thursday Theologians: for youth and adults.
Meets Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. for biblical and theological discussion. Leslie Wickham, leader.

Nursery: infants through age three.
For all worship services, childcare is provided by a professional care giver, assisted by adult church members. Mary Towell, leader.

SPLASH! monthly newsletters
These newsletters go out to our parents of children birth to 36 months in order to prepare them for baptism and connect them with the spiritual life of their infants and toddlers.

Baptism Remembrance: for those children being baptized
On the day of their baptism, each child is given a copy of Water Come Down, signed by church members to remember this special day in their faith. They are also given a children’s Bible to begin reading the stories of Scripture.
